It's not art unless your intention was artistic. Mr. Fegnolio at school will answer the question 'what is an artist' with the statement 'an artist is someone who makes art.' So, from what you're saying, you had an accident and decided to make a statement. Technically speaking, this is art, because you are doing something artistic (after all, one of the functions of art is to critique itself and the society within which it was produced); but I feel reluctant (personally) to call it that because it offends my delicate sensibilities about art.

Basically, I don't like it cause I get the feeling you're taking the piss. However, I can't make the blanket statement that it isn't art, because like it or not, on some levels it is. Still, the impetus for it to begin was, pure and simple, a cockup, and for that reason, I will say no: It's not art.

i'm sure there are artists out there (perhaps photographers particularly), did something wrong and it looked good anyway. I do not think that artistic intention is neccessary, 'an artist is someone who makes art', is art something made by an artist?

Besides how can you deny this has artistic intention, perhap not the intial intention was artistic, but is clear by it's very submission that the artist see's some artistic worth in it.
